Dated January 20, 1921, this 8 by 6 inch glass negative shows a house that its title identifies as the Draper house, though that name comes from unverified notes on the negative or its sleeve. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio based in Washington, D.C., made many plates like this one to document buildings and streets in the early twentieth century, and its collection later came to the Library of Congress. Streaks and blemishes across the glass reflect natural deterioration of the original coating, so parts of the image look faded.
