Titled simply "Girl Scout House" on its negative sleeve, this glass plate from the National Photo Company dates to a period when the Girl Scouts, founded in 1912, were setting up local meeting places across the country. The title was supplied by the company and has not been verified, so the building's location and history remain uncertain, though the picture likely dates from between 1910 and 1925. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the collection in 1947, and its surface shows streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of the original coating.
