Bliss Electrical School stood in Takoma Park, just across the northern edge of the District line, and it trained students for the electrical trades as power was reshaping homes, streetcars, and workplaces. The picture comes from the National Photo Company, a Washington firm that documented the city and its surroundings in the 1910s and early 1920s. The record dates the negative only to a span between 1910 and 1926, so it offers a useful view of the campus in those years. Look for streaks and blemishes on the glass, which come from the natural breakdown of its original coating.
