A Lincoln automobile, a make the Ford Motor Company had acquired in 1922, is the focus of this view made in the Virginia mountains that later became Shenandoah National Park. The park was not established until 1935, so the scene shows the region before it was set aside for preservation. The National Photo Company, a commercial firm that sold views of American places, made many such scenes of motoring during the years when cars were becoming a common leisure pursuit. The record dates the negative only to between 1910 and 1926.
