A Ford Motor Company truck marked for Hilltop Farm Dairies is the subject that sets this view apart. The glass negative dates from roughly 1910 to 1926, a period when motor trucks were beginning to replace horse-drawn wagons on local milk and produce routes. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., studio known for its commercial and street views, made the original negative, which Herbert A. French gave to the Library of Congress in 1947. The glass shows streaks and other blemishes from the natural deterioration of its original coatings.
