Few details in this glass negative identify its exact scene, but its title ties it to a Lincoln automobile at a private residence, which sets it apart from street views of the period. Lincoln was a luxury marque that the Ford Motor Company acquired in 1922, so a Lincoln labeled with Ford's name points to the years just after that purchase. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial studio, produced large numbers of negatives documenting city life and buildings in the early twentieth century. The 1910 to 1926 date range is inferred from similar negatives, and the title comes from the sleeve and is unverified. Streaks and blotches on the glass are natural deterioration of the original coating.
