Franklin D. Roosevelt poses on a boat with seven other men and a sailfish from a trip to the Everglades. Roosevelt was an avid sport fisherman who returned to Florida's waters many times, and big game fishing there drew wealthy visitors and photographers alike. The print comes from the papers of Harold L. Ickes, who served as Secretary of the Interior throughout Roosevelt's presidency, a department with responsibilities for the federal lands that became Everglades National Park. It offers a glimpse of the informal, outdoor side of Roosevelt's life.
