Queens appears here as one of the five boroughs of New York City, a status it gained when the city consolidated in 1898. The map was issued as a supplement to the *Brooklyn Eagle Almanac*, a yearly reference volume from the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, so it was meant to be used alongside local news and information rather than as a standalone atlas. Its layout reflects the early 1920s, when transit lines and new development were steadily drawing residents into Queens's outer neighborhoods.
