This color poster for the 1947 United Artists film *Carnegie Hall* puts the hall's name front and center, and its subjects make the appeal clear: the film featured real performers, including conductor Leopold Stokowski, pianist Artur Rubinstein, soprano Lily Pons, and trumpeter Harry James. Opened in 1891 on West 57th Street in Manhattan, the hall had long stood as a symbol of American concert life, so a studio feature built around its stage drew on that reputation. The poster's mix of classical and popular musicians also reflects the postwar moment, when Hollywood often blended concert artists with dance and jazz to reach wide audiences.
