Mount Hor, which Roberts titled "Gebil Hor," is the peak near Petra that tradition identifies as the place where Aaron died, according to the Book of Numbers. Roberts sketched it on March 5, 1839, during his journey through Egypt, Nubia, and the Holy Land. Louis Haghe later turned the drawing into a color lithograph for *The Holy Land*, published in London by F.G. Moon between 1842 and 1845. The series made Roberts's views of biblical and Near Eastern sites widely known in Britain and helped shape European images of the region. Muslims revere the summit as the tomb of Aaron, and a small shrine marks the site.
