Seen from behind, two girls walk beside a man and a horse, their backs to the camera as they move along the path. The picture is No. 6 in a numbered series of photoprints issued by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt, the National Socialist People's Welfare organization, under the heading Jugenderholungspflege, or youth recreation care. The series documented visits by city children to the German countryside in the 1930s, a program the Nazi government promoted as healthful and character-building for young people. The information comes from an unverified caption card, so the exact location and date are uncertain.
