Columns, vaulted bays, and calligraphic panels fill this view of the Ulu Cami, the Great Mosque of Bursa, shown from within rather than from the courtyard. Sultan Bayezid I began the mosque in the late fourteenth century, and its interior is known for its inscriptions in Arabic script. The print comes from an album by Abdullah Frères, an Istanbul photographic firm that worked for the Ottoman court, and it is now part of a collection associated with Sultan Abdul Hamid II.
