A fruit seller's cart parked on a Havana street, its load of produce set out for passing customers, anchors this c1904 view. The Detroit Photographic Company produced the image as part of its turn-of-the-century series of scenes from around the world, many of them made for sale as souvenirs. Street vendors like this one were a familiar sight in Havana in the early 1900s, when the city was bustling with commerce under American influence following the Spanish-American War.
