This wide panoramic print, nearly four feet long, shows a parade of bathing beauties on the boardwalk at Crystal Pier in California. The copyright deposit record shows it was registered in June 1925 by M. F. Weaver, whose address was in Los Angeles. In the mid-1920s, bathing beauty contests and parades drew large crowds to Southern California's seaside resorts, and the pier was a popular place for such events. The print's format and the staged, group arrangement of the women show how photographers used panoramic views to capture both the spectacle and the crowds watching it.
