Cheyenne's State Capitol, shown here in a photograph from about 1924, is the seat of Wyoming's government in a city that had been the territorial capital since 1868. Wyoming became a state in 1890, and the building was completed the same era, designed by architect Elijah E. Myers in a Renaissance Revival style with a prominent dome. The date on this print comes from an unverified caption card, so it may be approximate. The image is a useful record of how the capitol presented itself to the public in the mid-1920s, when the building was already a fixture of downtown Cheyenne.
