The Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee is the subject here, captured on a stereo card issued by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, around 1929. Keystone was among the best-known publishers of stereographs in the early twentieth century, selling paired images that, viewed through a stereoscope, gave a three-dimensional sense of a place. Cards like this one were sold as travel souvenirs and used in schools to bring distant landmarks into the parlor. The Tallahassee capitol was the seat of state government, and its 1920s appearance reflects the period just before the Great Depression, when such views were still a popular way to see the country's public buildings.
