Bridal Veil Falls is the smallest of the three cataracts that make up Niagara Falls, and this 1928 view shows the sheet of water dropping from the rim of the gorge on the American side. The print is a silver bromide photograph on textured paper by Fred Noma, a photographer who worked in the Niagara region in the early twentieth century. Bridal Veil Falls was separated from the Horseshoe Falls by Goat Island, and by the 1920s it was a standard stop for tourists touring the state park, which had been set aside in 1885 to protect the cataracts from commercial development.
