The title names the *Half Moon*, the Dutch ship Henry Hudson sailed up the river that now bears his name in 1609. The record gives no date, and the title comes from unverified caption information, so it is unclear whether this shows the original ship or a later reproduction. A full-scale replica was built for the Hudson-Fulton Celebration in 1909. The George Grantham Bain Collection holds news pictures from the early 1900s, so the image likely reflects the press interest in that anniversary.
