Harvard's Cambridge campus appears here in a scene of drill and military instruction, a subject the university took up in several periods of national crisis. The record is undated, and its title comes from caption cards that the Bain News Service wrote, which were not always checked against other sources. The Bain collection holds newspaper and wire photographs from the early twentieth century, when training for war was a frequent news subject. Since the date is unknown, the best guide to the picture's setting is the campus itself and the era its negative format suggests.
