The bobsled run at Lake Placid, in New York's Adirondack Mountains, is the focus of this poster. The village hosted the 1932 Winter Olympics, and its track became a landmark of American winter sport. Produced under the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, the design uses flat silkscreen color and flags to present the mountains as a winter destination during the Depression, when federal programs employed artists to make public posters. A February 1938 date stamp appears on the back.
