Facing the Boston Common on Tremont Street, with a second Keith house on Washington Street, this ink drawing shows two theaters that once belonged to B.F. Keith's vaudeville circuit, a national chain of variety houses named for its founder, Benjamin Franklin Keith. Dated 1931, the sheet dates from the years when sound films were overtaking live vaudeville. Its plans reflect that shift, since these buildings were designed to serve both stage acts and motion pictures.
