Rather than a portrait, this card shows a stretch of the Arno River in Florence, with the Palazzo Corsini rising along the Lungarno Corsini embankment. The palace, begun in the 17th century, was one of the riverfront's prominent buildings, and city views like this were popular souvenirs for travelers, who often pasted them into albums. The card bears the stamp of Giacomo Brogi, a Florentine photographer whose studio produced many such street and monument views. Its record notes that it came from an album titled *Browning Collection of Portraits*, which is why it sits on a board devoted to notable people.
