Siegfried Wagner, son of the composer Richard Wagner, stands beside a statue of his father in this 1924 photograph taken in Cleveland, Ohio. Siegfried later led the Bayreuth Festival, the summer event Richard founded to stage his operas in a theater built for them, so he was the family's main keeper of that legacy. The photograph was made by Underwood & Underwood, a New York firm known for news and travel pictures. The caption card's details are unverified, so the exact circumstances of the visit are worth checking.
