Roosevelt is shown looking out over a street in this glass negative, but the record gives no date, and the title comes from caption information that the cataloger could not verify. The Bain News Service, run by George Grantham Bain in New York, supplied news pictures to newspapers from the early 1900s into the 1910s, so the image likely dates from that period, when Roosevelt was a frequent subject for press photographers. Glass negatives of this size were the standard working medium for news photographers of the era. Until better documentation turns up, the exact location and moment should be treated as uncertain.
