This head-and-shoulders portrait shows George W. Glover, the son of Mary Baker Eddy from her first marriage, shown in profile facing left. Eddy, who founded the Church of Christ, Scientist, and published *Science and Health* in the 1870s, was a central figure in American religious life, and her family drew public interest as the movement grew. The print comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, a body of news photographs made in New York in the early twentieth century. Its catalog date range is garbled, so the exact year of the sitting is uncertain, but the portrait fits the period of Bain's work.
