This etching portrays William Few (1748-1828), a Georgia delegate who signed the United States Constitution at the Philadelphia convention in 1787. Few had moved to Georgia from Maryland and later served in the Continental Congress and as one of Georgia's first United States senators. The print is the work of Albert Rosenthal, a Philadelphia painter and etcher known for portraits of American public figures. The caption card gives no date, so the print's exact year is unknown, but the portrait style reflects the later revival of interest in the Founders and the Constitution's framing.
