A glass negative from the Bain News Service shows a king seated for a portrait by the painter Alfred Schwarz, the sitting itself being the subject. The king is identified as the ruler of Albania, and if that is Zog I, he held the throne from 1928 until Italy invaded in 1939, a short period when the new kingdom was often in the foreign press. The agency's caption title is unverified, so the sitter and the date should be treated as the agency's identification rather than settled fact.
