A drawbridge and foreign visitors in Tokyo are the subjects the record names, which sets this drawing apart from the general run of Japanese prints on the board. The catalog dates it to 1750, but it credits Isoda Koryūsai, who was active roughly from 1764 to 1788, so the date is likely approximate. The subject tags also point to Tokyo between 1850 and 1900, a period after the city was renamed from Edo in 1868, which would be later than the artist's working years. That gap is worth keeping in mind when reading the drawing, since it may show a scene from a different time than the artist's own.
