Boston's Mechanics Building hosted the National Allied Bazaar from December 9 to 20, 1917, and this color lithograph advertised it during the first winter after the United States entered the First World War. The Libbie Printing Co. of Boston produced the poster, which also names the United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation as sponsor, the federal agency then building merchant ships for overseas supply. Its tanks and trench scenes show how the Allied cause was presented to American audiences, where war bonds and funds were a constant theme.
