Titled "Twentieth century transportation," this color chromolithograph places a globe beside locomotives and motor trucks, a summary of the new machines of about 1910. E.S. Yates designed it in Chicago, and the Delmont Company published it under a copyright held by Chas. I. Felthousen. Chromolithography, which built up color from several stone or metal plates, made such bright images cheap enough for wide distribution. The pairing is worth noticing: the railroad still dominated long-distance travel, while motor trucks were only beginning to reshape city streets.
