A color lithograph from about 1893 presents the Pennsylvania Railroad's new passenger station on Broad Street in Philadelphia as "America's grandest railway terminal." The poster was printed by Century Litho. Co. for the New York publisher Miller & More, and its promotional tone reflects how railroads of the period competed for travelers by advertising their stations as symbols of civic pride and modern engineering. The Broad Street terminal served as a major gateway to the city during the rapid expansion of American rail travel in the late nineteenth century.
