This Mexico City lithograph pairs a cactus with a village, two images that stood for the country's landscape to outside viewers. It was issued by the Dirección General de Turismo, a federal office that used large color posters like this to promote travel within Mexico during the decades between 1930 and 1950. The artist, Magallón, and the printer, S. Turanzas del Valle, worked in the litho-tipografía tradition, combining drawn imagery with lettering on sheets meant for public walls.
