A departure scene of Yale and Harvard athletes, dated June 24, 1911. The record's "2011" is almost certainly a misreading, since the Bain collection dates from the early twentieth century. The title comes from caption data the Bain News Service wrote on the negative or its card, which the Library of Congress has not verified, so the specific event and destination remain uncertain. Rivalry between the two universities was intense in this period, and teams often traveled by train to meet opponents, so a station or departure setting would have been a natural subject for a news photographer. The Bain agency supplied newspapers with such pictures for daily publication.
