Few holiday covers from the 1890s look as modern as this color poster, which Will H. Bradley made for the Thanksgiving number of *The Chap-Book*. Bradley, a Chicago designer and a leading figure in American Art Nouveau, borrowed flat color, bold outlines, and stylized figures from European poster art, and the record notes the piece was exhibited under the Art Nouveau heading. *The Chap-Book* was a small literary magazine, and its seasonal numbers gave its covers a wide audience. The subject headings point to women and food, the domestic world of the holiday feast.
