Few pictures on this board pair Herbert Hoover with a conservation group, and this glass negative, dated July 17, 1929, shows the new president with members of the Izaak Walton League. The League, named for the 17th-century author of *The Compleat Angler*, was founded in 1922 by anglers and outdoorsmen concerned with protecting waterways and wildlife. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio, made the image, and Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Streaks and blemishes on the glass come from deterioration of its original coatings.
