Four Boston churches share this sheet, and King's Chapel, the granite church at Tremont and School streets, is the one that stands out. Built between 1749 and 1754 as an Anglican church, it became Unitarian in 1785, and its dressed Quincy granite set it apart from the brick and wood meetinghouses around it. The engraving appeared in Bowen's *Picture of Boston*, a guidebook that gave readers of the 1820s and 1830s a view of the city's public buildings and streets.
