Dr. Albert Hassall of the Department of Agriculture appears with animal parasites in this view dated April 17, 1926. Studying the worms and pests that sickened livestock was an important part of federal agricultural science in the 1920s, when losses to disease cost farmers herds and income. The National Photo Company, a Washington commercial studio, recorded government agencies and officials across the early decades of the twentieth century. Its title came from data the company supplied, so the identification has not been independently verified. The glass negative also shows streaks and blemishes from deterioration of its original coating.
