Miss Ruth McC. Trumble poses with an Agriculture Department display made for the Sesquicentennial, the 1926 observance of 150 years since the Declaration of Independence. Federal agencies showed their work at the Sesquicentennial Exposition in Philadelphia that year, and this exhibit was part of that effort. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio, made the glass negative, and its collection records government life in the early twentieth century. The title comes from notes on the negative and is unverified, and the streaks on the glass come from age in the original coating.
