Few details of this view are recorded, but its title places it on the 31st Street side of the Pennsylvania Railroad Station in Manhattan, an elevation that shows the building's long facade along that cross street. The station, designed by the firm McKim, Mead & White and opened in 1910, filled a full city block between Seventh and Eighth avenues and was admired for its Classical Revival design and its vast waiting room. It was demolished in the 1960s, so architectural views like this one now document a building that no longer stands. The caption card is old and unverified, so the date and origin of this reproduction remain uncertain.
