A modest site on the island of Nevis in the British West Indies is the spot this stereograph names as the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was born there in the 1750s, and he left as a young man for New York, where he later became the first Secretary of the Treasury. Keystone View Company issued this card around 1905 as one of many stereoviews that let parlor viewers look at distant places and famous sites through a stereoscope. The caption is marked as unverified, so the link to this exact spot is best read as long-standing local tradition rather than settled fact.
