A game between teams of stock brokers, with the New York side managed by J.F. Carlisle and the opposing team run by C.R. Runyon and Ira Richardson, was played at the Polo Grounds in New York in May 1908. The glass negative comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, made by the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied newspapers with news pictures in the early twentieth century. The title names Boston as one side, but the Polo Grounds location points to a New York game, and the title is recorded as unverified, so the matchup details are worth checking before relying on them.
