Few pictures on this board show a game between two teams of stock brokers, played at the Polo Grounds in upper Manhattan. The batter, N.G. Greenaway of New York, stands at the plate while W. Clark of Boston crouches behind him to catch. The Bain News Service, the photo agency whose glass negatives make up this collection, sold action pictures like this one to newspapers soon after events, so the image captures a moment of play in 1908 rather than a posed group. The caption comes from the agency's own notes, which were not independently verified.
