The caption names the sitter as T. Roosevelt Jr., most likely Theodore Roosevelt Jr., eldest son of the 26th president, though that identification is unverified. Bain News Service, the New York agency behind this glass negative, supplied press photographs of public figures in the early twentieth century. Roosevelt Jr. later served in France during the First World War and held posts as governor of Puerto Rico and governor-general of the Philippines. The undated plate gives little else, so its exact setting remains unknown.
