Two women are named here: Mrs. T. Roosevelt Jr., wife of Theodore Roosevelt Jr., eldest son of the former president, and Mrs. Snowden Fahnestock, of the New York Fahnestock family. The names come from caption information written by the Bain News Service, a New York photo agency whose glass negatives are now held by the Library of Congress, and the record notes that the titles are unverified. Bain's pictures were made for newspapers and magazines in the early twentieth century, when agency photographers recorded prominent people at public events and in society circles.
