Pour it on!" turns the home front into the production line, with its subject headings pointing to metalworking and the airplane industry rather than combat. Illustrator Garrett Price designed the poster in 1942, the year American factories ramped up sharply after the country entered the war in December 1941. Printed by the U.S. Government Printing Office, it belongs to a wave of government posters urging workers and citizens to keep metal, aircraft, and war materiel flowing. Its bold color and short, urgent slogan are typical of the wartime style of the period.
