Children are the audience of this 1936 silkscreen poster, which promises $250 in prizes for building miniature houses in Iowa. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, sponsored it, and the design reflects the program's wider use of posters to announce public events and community activities during the Depression. Silkscreen was a relatively inexpensive method that allowed artists to produce bold, flat color in multiple copies. The later date stamped on the back shows the sheet was still being filed and handled years after the contest was announced.
