The Indian Court at the Golden Gate International Exposition sits at the center of this poster, which advertised the 1939 fair held on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. The fair's Indian Court, set within the Federal Building, presented Native American crafts, arts and ceremonial life, with the subject headings for this print pointing to Pueblo dancers and the spiritual traditions behind their performances. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, produced the silkscreen as one of many posters promoting the exposition, and its flat shapes and bold color reflect the style of that New Deal design program.
