Its copy promises a "Yankee Doodle cocktail" that is "New! Novel! Different!", a playful pitch for a stage production staged at the Greek theater in Los Angeles. The poster was made in 1936 by the Work Projects Administration, and the record credits the Federal theater Project as sponsor, with David Pinski connected to the production. The Federal theater Project put unemployed actors, designers and writers to work during the Depression, and its posters were often silkscreened in bold flat colors, a cheap and fast method that gave the posters their graphic punch.
