A color lithograph advertising a performer billed as Bard, the phenomenal swinging wire artist, this 1890 poster was produced by Moody Bros. of Birmingham, England. Its caption promises an act "entirely different to all others," a typical piece of showman's hyperbole for the period, when wire and aerial performers competed for attention in music halls and circuses. Posters like this were printed in quantity and pasted on hoardings and walls, so surviving copies show how live entertainers were sold to the public before film and radio.
