Teams hauling freight from the Central Pacific Railroad at Cisco, in Placer County, are the subject of this view, published in 1866. Cisco was a station on the line as it climbed the Sierra Nevada, and it served as a point where goods were moved onward by road to places the rails did not reach. Wagon teaming of this kind was a familiar sight in the mountains during those years.
